I am thankful for my family.

I was excited to go to my cousins house in Bayside for Thanksgiving,
but I knew it would be tough because as much a I love the kids, they're crazy!
We sat at the dinner table, 16 adults, everyone talking at once,
eating, laughing genuinely being merry... and
I looked around and couldn't think of a better place to be.
I looked at my cousin Manuel, and I told him I loved him,
I can't imagine life without my beloved cousin!

Toward the end of dinner, after about 50 toasts
(its a tradition at their house to toast a lot...)
I stood up and said I wanted to say something.
I told them all that I loved them, and was thankful for everyone of
them and I couldn't imagine Thanksgiving if any one of them was missing.
Said how I missed those of our family that were
with us in spirit and those of them that couldn't be there at all.

My cousin pointed out Thursday night was the
11th anniversary of his fathers death
Eleven years. I can't believe it. I remember it like last year.
I remember being so sad. Depressed. I loved my great uncle.
What I hated most was that my grandmother lost her last living sibling.
She was depressed. But depressed doesn't begin to explain it.
She wished she could switch places with him... that killed me.
Of course *I* didn't want that at all.

Shes made it through, 11 years without her favorite little brother,
over 20 without her husband, but always in my heart and life.
She may have lost a lot of family, she still has family that loves her,
and I let her know that because I think she tends to forget.

I'm thankful for m grandma and her health.
I'm thankful that my family is mostly healthy,
that they're all here on Earth (the ones that are currently here...),
I'm thankful that I have a roof over my head, food on my plate,
and friends I can call when I need someone to talk to
(even though I never call when I need them most.

I love you & appreciate you!

What are you thankful for? I'm curious, let me know! <3

  1. That was beautiful, honey! I'm moved so much by this, and it brought me back to the wonderful Thanksgiving I spent with you guys this year! <3
    Rest in peace, Grandfather Levon!

  2. This was such a nice post! I'm thankful for the incredible gift of health that God has given me and my family. I'm thankful that I don't have to do anything on my own because God ALWAYS supplements any of my shortcomings (and i have a lot!). I'm thankful for all the of the beautiful relationships in my life that have developed over the years.
    luv, tata
